Phase One - Buy the Land
Living Hope now own a piece of land in central baddomalhi. The prices are higher than we hoped, so we have bought a small piece, and intend to buy more to build play facilities and a garden at a later date.
Phase Two - Basic School
We estimate that to begin running the school, we will need 3 teaching tooms, toilets, kitchen, rest room for teachers, dining hall, reception, resource room (computers, books, paper etc), lesiure faciliities, bus to transport children safely, sewage tank & access to drinking water throughout the building.
We estimate that these costs will be (Not inclusive of running costs),
£4000 for each room + furniture & equipment
£5000 for kitchen + toilets
£3000 for Office - Headteacher & admin
£1000 for lesiure facilities
£500 for sewage tank ***
£100 for bus
** We aim to gradually improve the lesiure facilities year by year through a consultation process (with the children and their families) and seperate fundraising.
*** We aim to create an advanced safe sewage system to deal with the associated problems of sewage disposal in the community, however we will not take this into the budget until we have further resources and knowledge.
Phase Three - Community centre
To enable adult learning, alongside the school's teaching facilities, we would like to provide workshops and a technology centre.
Phase Four - Extended School
We would like to purchase additional land to grow fruit and vegetables to provide the children with a nutrious diet. Many meals in Pakistan consist of rice and pulses, with the occasional meat. Only those with a good income can afford vegetables and fruit on a regular basis.
We would also like to provide locals with the knowledge as how to grow their own food.
We would like to have a small amount of live stock - goats and cows for milk, horses and ponys for riding therapy and general use. Chickens and cockerels for eggs and meat.
We would like to build more classrooms as the school expands, we would also like to provide accomodation for pupils who live a long distance from the school and for gap year students from abroad.
We would like the school to be up and running sooner rather than later, and we know that providing resources for the community without their input and trust is a useless act. We are planning our project in 'Phases' with this in mind
Phase 1 - Buy land
Phase 2 - Basic School
Phase 3 - Community centre
Phase 4 - Extended school
We have not set dates on the phases simply because it all depends on your generous donations. The team at Living Hope do this in their spare time voluntarily. However, this does not mean that we are not working hard to raise the money needed!
